SCHOOL HISTORY

The urgency to accommodate the graduates of the three (3) public elementary schools in Barangay Baclaran prompted the Barangay Baclaran Council to draft a resolution converting the former covered court gym into a BARANGAY HIGH SCHOOL. Thus, RESOLUTION No. 067-96 was conceived which was supported after a year by another resolution.

    RESOLUTION No. 013-97, s. 1997 which read:

“A resolution seeking the assistance of the Hon. Secretary of Education Ricardo Gloria, thru the Honorable  Joey P. Marquez,  city mayor of Parañaque, regarding the construction of a three-storey building of a barangay high school in Baclaran, Parañaque City.”

Through the efforts of Barangay Chairman, ROLAND C. CAILLES, this resolution was unanimously APPROVED by its council during the September 5, 1997 session. The construction started with a groundbreaking ceremony on June 26, 1997. This was attended by local and city government officials, the barangay chairman of Baclaran, with the members of the barangay council and some DepEd officials of Parañaque City. The construction of the building took three (3) years.

Eventually, on May 2, 2002, the new school building was made known to the public through the official turnover ceremony attended by the city mayor Joey P. Marquez and significant figures from the city government, officials from DepEd Parañaque and barangay officials.

The key symbolizing the responsibility of taking care of the building was handed over to the City Mayor to the  Schools Division Superintendent’s representative and in turn handed over to the DepEd Schools Division Property Custodian, Mrs. Teresita Diocadiz to Ms. Estrella C. Aseron, Principal of the Mother School (PNHS-Main) and finally to Mrs. Concepcion C. Bernaldez, the first Officer-In-Charge.

“A DREAM COME TRUE” – a significant comment of the people in Barangay Baclaran. On June 18, 2002, the Schools Division Superintendent, Dr. Rolando Magno, certified the inspection, completion and acceptance of the new building. On its first days of classes, the officer-in-charge, Mrs. Concepcion C. Bernaldez, along with the eight teachers held classes with six (6)sections of regular first year high school. The original plan was for the first year Science High School students to hold classes along with the six sections of regular high school in this newly-constructed building, but this was not realized as Science High School students were made to go back to PNHS-Main campus in Sucat. So, only six (6) regular classes totaling to 402 first year students were left to shape the HISTORY of Baclaran High School.

In 2005-2007, Mrs. Lita C. Mata sat as Officer-In-Charge, the student population increased to one thousand five hundred fifty one (1551), distributed to 23 sections with 38 teachers in SY 2005-2006 but decreased to one thousand four hundred forty nine (1449) distributed to 22 sections with 37 teachers in SY 2006-2007. The classes were conducted in two shifts.

In school year 2007-2008 under Mrs. Wilma T. Loria, the student population was one thousand four hundred ten (1410) distributed to 21 sections with 36 teachers and still conducted two shifts.

On October 28, 2008, Dr. Rosendo C. Abulog wrote a letter to Mr. Urbano E. Agustin, Principal IV of Parañaque National High School – Main, asking permission that Baclaran National High School – PNHS Annex be made as an independent school using MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT (USUFRUCT).

On April 20, 2009, after the completion of the needed documents for school’s independence, an endorsement letter from Ms. Teresita G. Domalanta, CESO II, Director IV of the DepEd-NCR stating that the school’s request for separation from its mother school has been granted.

The City Ordinance No. 09-14, s. 2009 declaringformer BACLARAN HIGH SCHOOL (PNHS ANNEX) as an independentSecondary School separated and distinct from Parañaque National High School shall be known as BACLARAN NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL.

In 2011-2014, Mrs. Corazon B. Mandar sat as the school principal with an average population of one thousand nine hundred five (1905) nurtured by 51 teachers and supported by 11 non-teaching staff.

In October 30, 2014 – July 2019, Ms. Gina N. Zapico sat as the school principal with an average student  population of one thousand two hundred three (1203) from Year 13 to Year 16 of Baclaran National High School (BNHS).
